Maui, Day 1

We woke up early on a Saturday (real early) and went down to the Oahu Airport to embark on our first real vacation (with just the two of us and just for fun) since our honeymoon. We were both very excited, and very tired. Right after landing we picked up our rental car, a sweet mini van and headed to Costco and KMart where we got way to much food for ourselves to possibly eat. We got so much food that we bought another duffle-bag to fly some of it back to Oahu.

We headed first thing after that to the Iao Needle State Park which is near Kahului Airport. On the way however we spotted some sort of cultural park and stopped for a while to look around and snap some pictures. Both the cultural park and the needle were pretty cool...

Afterward, we headed straight down to Lahaina where we relaxed for a little while and looked around...

We went down to the dock and we saw this family of tourists posing around this huge marlin. We are guessing that they went on one of those cartered fishing tours and ended up catching the biggest fish in the last 2 or 3 years. I'm guessing that the two guys in the picture below did most of the work because the family consisted of a 15 yr. old girl and a flabby daddy...

We walked around and explored for the rest of the night and went to this place called Kobe Restaurant. This is one of those Japanese places where they cook the food right in front of you. It was cool... but we thought that these doors were even cooler...
